CHP takes extra long load out of service for cracked brake chamber

Published:

An extra long flatbed semi truck was placed out of service after a California Highway Patrol officer discovered a very serious brake issue.

The issue was discovered on Wednesday, March 5th along State Route 44 near Shingletown, California.

According to ABC 7, a CHP officer initially stopped the semi truck for an overlength violation, but discovered a cracked brake chamber during the inspection of the extra long rig.

The semi truck and truck driver were taken out of service immediately until necessary repairs could be made.

A damaged brake chamber could “severely diminish the vehicle’s stopping ability if it broke away completely,” the officer noted.
