Citizen complaint leads Iowa troopers to Mexico-bound commercial vehicle with 16 violations

A commercial vehicle en route to Mexico was pulled over in Iowa with more than a dozen safety violations, according to state police.

On November 16, the Iowa State Patrol Commercial Motor Vehicle Unit highlighted a recent traffic stop that occurred as a result of a concerned citizen contacting police.

Troopers said that on November 15, a caller reported the truck for a blown tire and that troopers were able to track down and pull over the vehicle.

Once the truck was pulled over, the Iowa State Patrol discovered a large number of serious safety issues.

“A few of the 16 total violations and various out-of-service conditions discovered were the tire violations, no logbook, leaking wheel seal, and no driver’s license. The truck had travelled all the way from Mexico to Wisconsin, and was headed back to Mexico when it was stopped,” state police said.

“Never hesitate to call in issues you see while out on the road!” the Iowa State Patrol told drivers.
