Troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) apprehended an allegedly intoxicated commercial vehicle driver who was wanted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
A Southeast Region Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement (CVE) Trooper pulled over a commercial vehicle after the driver was spotted using a cellphone while driving, Texas DPS said in a December 5 statement.
During the traffic stop, the trooper reportedly spotted signs of intoxication.
“Further investigation confirmed the driver was impaired, leading to his arrest. He was booked into the Fort Bend County Jail for Driving While Intoxicated — his second offense,” officials said.
Authorities also learned that the driver was a “fugitive from justice” who was wanted by ICE.
“Our CVE Troopers remain committed to ensuring our roadways are safe by enforcing commercial vehicle laws and removing dangerous drivers from Texas roadways,” said TXDPS.
