A new Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement unit is now fully operational in the Dallas area two years after it was approved by the city council.
The Mesquite, Texas City Council approved the CMV Enforcement unit in 2023. While the unit technically launched in May of 2024, the team spent the last 15 months receiving specialized training and acquiring the correct equipment.
As of this week, the Mesquite Police Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement Unit is fully operational and ready to patrol North Texas highways and streets in its specially designed F-150 Interceptor. The unit consists of two officers and one sergeant.
The unit will enforce Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance rules to maintain road safety related to commercial vehicles, their drivers, and the road, with the goal of preventing crashes.
