Canadian police issued charges to a trucking company and a truck driver following an accident involving an improperly secured steel coil.
On October 4, 2024, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detailed a recent incident involving a commercial vehicle operating in the Toronto area.

Police said that a “steel coil slammed into the cab that was not properly secured onto the trailer.”
No injuries were reported by OPP.

A Highway Enforcement Traffic OPP officer who inspected the truck “located multiple bald tires with metal cords exposed and a broken frame rail on the trailer.”

OPP noted that a pre-trip inspection by driver reported: “No defects.”
The trucking company and driver were issued charges for various safety violations discovered.
