Driver blames GPS for confusion over what city he was in and subsequent crash into ditch

A truck driver blamed his GPS for his confusion over what city he was in that eventually led to his driving into a ditch.

The incident happened on Friday morning, October 10th at about 6:30 a.m. in Kirksville, Missouri at the intersection of Highway 63 and Adair County Route P.

According to KTVO, police were called after the 68-year-old truck driver missed a right turn off of southbound Highway 63 and onto Route P and eventually landed the front end of his rig in a roadside ditch.

The unnamed truck driver told police that his GPS indicated that he was in Columbia, Missouri and he thought he was making a turn onto Vandiver Drive in Columbia. He stated that the GPS directions led to his confusion over what city he was in. Kirksville is approximately one and a half hours away from Columbia.

Heavy tow trucks worked for about an hour to get the truck back onto the road. No other information about the incident has been released.
