Driver fined over $2000 after getting stuck on Smugglers Notch

A truck driver was fined over $2000 after getting stuck on Smugglers Notch on Monday. 

The incident occurred on Monday, September 29th, at 10:33 a.m. on VT-108 near Cambridge, Vermont. 

According to NBC 5, The truck driver in a 2021 Freightliner Cascadia entered a “prohibited” section of VT-108 and got stuck on the first S turn. DMV Enforcement and Safety and Vermont State Police responded to the scene. 

The “prohibited” section of VT-108 does not allow combination vehicles over 45 feet in length, and a fine of over $2000 is issued to drivers who violate the rule. 

The 42-year-old truck driver Jackson Mulindwa was fined $2,347 for the incident. The stuck tractor trailer was cleared in about 20 minutes.
