The truck driver in the fatal illegal u-turn crash in Florida this summer reportedly failed his CDL test 10 times before finally passing in Washington state.

28-year-old Harjinder Singh is currently being held in St Lucie County, Florida for the fatal crash on three counts of vehicular homicide and immigration violations dating back to 2018.

According to Fox News, Singh failed his Washington CDL knowledge exam 10 times between March 10, 2023 and May 5th, 2023. He also failed his air brakes knowledge test twice during that time. He eventually obtained his CDL in Washington. California later granted Singh another CDL.

Since the crash, questions surrounding Singh’s English proficiency have also arisen. The Washington company that trained Singh says that he was able to speak English, but was not fluent.

Singh has since pleaded not guilty to the charges.
