Driver killed by falling tree while traveling on sunny I-64

A truck driver is dead after a falling tree struck his tractor trailer on Interstate 64 in Virginia on Wednesday afternoon. 

The accident happened on April 16th at around 3:30 p.m. on eastbound I-64 at the 172.5 mile marker. 

According to 12 On Your Side, the tractor trailer was traveling in the right lane when a large falling tree struck the commercial vehicle and the truck driver inside. The impact then sent the semi truck veering off the right side of the interstate. 

51-year-old truck driver, Frank James Porter-Loftin, was killed in the incident. A second driver then struck debris from the accident, causing a crash with a third driver. 

The crash is still under investigation by the Virginia State Police. There were no storms in the area at the time of the accident.
