Drivers were stranded on Interstate 75 in Georgia overnight after a semi truck fire blocked the road.
The incident happened on Tuesday night, January 21st on I-75 in Monroe County, Georgia.
According to Atlanta News First, a tractor trailer caught fire on I-75 at High Falls Road, blocking all lanes just before Highway 36.
Several lanes were reopened just before 9:30 a.m., but crews were unable to remove the burned tractor trailer due to the icy conditions, leading to continuous traffic buildup.

The traffic eventually led some truckers to abandon their trucks on the Interstate. These empty trucks are still blocking I-75 north on Forsyth as of 8:30 a.m. EST. Officials still have not made plans to remove the abandoned rigs, as conditions are still treacherous.
The Georgia Department of Transportation advises that drivers use US 41 north an an alternate route.
“Emergency services are on-scene working to address the incident,” GDOT said. “Please exercise caution, follow all official instructions, and consider using the suggested alternate route. Your patience and cooperation are appreciated.”
