The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) recently took enforcement action against a commercial vehicle driver after discovering numerous violations in a traffic stop conducted as a result of the driver skipping the scale house.
On October 13, THP took to social media to detail a trooper’s recent encounter with a commercial vehicle driver.

THP stays that the vehicle was stopped by a Motor Carrier Plus East Region trooper when the vehicle was observed bypassing a weigh station.

A Level I inspection revealed the following violations:
- Tires worn down to metal cords
- No annual inspections
- No mud flaps
- Unsecured load
- Non-functioning trailer brakes
- No record of duty status (log book)

The driver, truck, and trailer were all placed out-of-service, according to THP.
