Driver’s dash cam captures footage of fatal incident involving man walking through fuel island

A truck driver’s dash captured footage of a recent fatal incident at a fuel island involving a man on foot and a Mack truck.

The accident happened on Thursday, September 4th at 6:41 p.m. at the Sapp Bros. Travel Center, located near North Broad Street and Sunset Avenue in Dodge County, Nebraska.

In the video, 70-year-old Skyler Norman can be seen walking across the fuel island towards the truck stop store when he walks in front of the Mack truck. The Mack truck’s lights can then be seen coming on and the truck moves forward, hitting Norman.

Norman was soon transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died of his injuries.

Mike Kuebler, a commercial truck driving instructor at nearby Metropolitan Community College, says that parking lot accidents between trucks are common, but says he’s never heard of or seen one involving a pedestrian in his 30 years of trucking.

We teach people to always be on the lookout, be defensive and to hopefully not have any accidents out on the road,” he said to KETV. “Know your surroundings. Know what’s around you, know who’s around you.”

No information on the truck driver operating the Mack truck has been released.
