Eight semi truck pile up crash closes I-80 for five hours

Interstate 80 was shut down for about five hours on Tuesday morning after eight semi trucks collided in Trumbull County. 

The accident happened at about 1:45 a.m. on Tuesday, September 23rd on I-80 in Trumbull County, Ohio at State Route 193 and State Route 11.

According to Fox 8, the chain reaction crash started when one tractor trailer lost control and jackknifed across the roadway. Seven other semi trucks were then unable to stop and collided with the jackknifed rig. A total of eight semi trucks were involved in the accident. 

The incident shut down westbound I-80 at State Route 193 and State Route 11, creating traffic delays of more than 90 minutes. The roadway was reopened at about 7 a.m. 

Wet roads and foggy conditions were reported on Tuesday morning, but the exact cause of the accident is still under investigation. It is unclear if anyone was injured in the accident.
