The New York State transportation officials announced upcoming travel restrictions for empty trucks due to winter weather.
Starting at 12:01 a.m. on Thursday, November 27, all empty trucks and trailers will be banned from traveling on the New York State Thruway (I-90) from Exit 53 (Buffalo ā I-190) to the Pennsylvania State Line (both directions). The ban will remain in place until further notice.
Also effective at 12:01 a.m. on November 27, empty trucks are restricted from the following roads, according to the New York State Department of Transportation:
- Route 5 Skyway: Church Street to Tifft Street
- RouteĀ 400:Ā I-90 to Route 16
- RouteĀ 219: I-90 to RouteĀ 39
- I-86: PA Line to Exit 23 (RouteĀ 219)
- Route 5 Skyway is ClosedĀ from I-190 to Route 79
The travel restrictions were issued due to a Lake Effect Snow Warning and forecasted heavy snow with gusty winds.
Transportation officials in Pennsylvania and Ohio have also announced travel restrictions for certain commercial vehicles due to winter weather over the Thanksgiving holiday.
