Ex-wife of the trucker found stabbed to death along I-80 arrested on murder charges

The ex-wife of a truck driver found stabbed to death in his truck along Interstate 80 was arrested on murder charges late last month.

Truck driver Jaspinder Singh was found dead inside of his semi truck near Delle, Utah on Interstate 80 back in September 2024. The first suspect in the murder, Jaswinder Singh Dhillon, was arrested on charges of first-degree felony aggravated murder and aggravated kidnapping in October 2024. Singh’s ex-wife, 47-year-old Jatinder Kaur Purewal was arrested in California on November 20th, 2025 on charges of first-degree felony charges of aggravated murder and aggravated kidnapping and second-degree felony charges of obstruction of justice.

According to 2 KUTV, Singh was found dead in the cab of his truck after a coworker noticed that his GPS had stopped moving at an I-80 on-ramp in Delle. He was discovered dead in the truck with multiple stab wounds to his neck and lower body, and zip ties on his wrists. A Mercedes was determined to have followed Singh for at least 300 miles. That vehicle was later discovered in Washington, and the driver was identified as Dhillon.

Dhillon reportedly called Purewal over 30 times while he was held in the Clark County Jail in Washington. The two reportedly expressed their love for each other often, while Dhillon maintained that he did not know why he was arrested. Dhillon claimed that his car had broken down in Utah, and Purewal relayed information about the news coverage of the murder to Dhillon during their phone calls.

Purewal was identified as Singh’s ex-wife and had reportedly made threats to kill Singh in the past. Their daughter told investigators that she believed “her mother was very capable of killing her dad.” Investigators believe that Purewal had convinced Dhillon to kill Singh.

“However, the two of them never discussed the fact that Jatinder’s ex-husband was the victim who had been murdered,” prosecutors say. “The call logs show that Jaswinder Dhillon and Jatinder [Purewal] were in communication with voice and video calls before, during and after the time that it is believed the victim was killed.”

A witness has since stated that Purewal knew that Dhillon was following Singh from California to Utah, and that Purewal told the witness that she knew about the murder plans but “didn’t think he was actually going to do it.”
