A failed computer system update led to the partial closure of the border between New York and Canada, halting truck traffic.
The computer issue began at the Peace Bridge near Buffalo, New York and at the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge near Lewiston, New York late on Monday, September 29th and was not fully resolved until Wednesday morning, October 1st.

According to 2 WGRZ, a failed computer system update left border agencies with “no way of checking” commercial vehicles looking to cross the border at either location. The computer issue stopped thousands of truckers from entering Canada, causing massive traffic backups along Interstate 190 north in Lewiston and Buffalo.
By early Wednesday morning, commercial vehicle processing had restarted, but at a slow pace. By 8:30 a.m. the Canada Border Services Agency issued a statement saying that “The outage has now been fully resolved. Commercial drivers may continue to experience some short-term delays as we resume normal processing,” reported Audacy.
