Florida cops hand out 25 weight violations after inspecting 26 commercial vehicles

The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) partnered with the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) for a commercial vehicle inspection detail that uncovered dozens of weight violations.

FHP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (CVE) officers with the Orlando division partnered with OCSO for a joint detail on Canoe Creek Road, according to a November 6 statement from the agency.

See below for an overview of results from the FHP/OCSO inspection effort:

  • 26 inspections conducted
  • 25 weight violations cited
  • 3 vehicles placed out-of-service

FHP division also highlighted the efforts of CVE – Orlando for placing a particular commercial vehicle out-of-service after multiple violations were discovered, including:

  • No trailer registration, wrong tag displayed
  • Cracked siderail, bottom of frame
  • Truck registration expired, no tag
  • No periodic inspection
  • Headlamp inoperable
  • Cracked windshield
  • Cargo not secured.

“CVE is about Safety! Thank CVE-Orlando for removing this unsafe vehicle off of Florida Roadways. By conducting a thorough pre-trip the driver could have avoided all the violations listed,” FHP said.
