The Walton County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) out of Florida is highlighting the accomplishments of an inmate in earning her Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with endorsements.
According to WCSO, Ajiah Gee, 25, is the first female inmate to graduate from the Walton County Jail CDL Program.
Officials said that after completing the course, Gee earned a Class A CDL with no restrictions.
“Getting a CDL in Florida isn’t easy. Candidates must pass written exams, a road skills test, and demonstrate their ability to safely operate complex vehicles,” WCSO said. “These accomplishments take hard work, dedication, and determination. All qualities Ajiah has shown every step of the way while working alongside her instructor, Tim Castiglione.”
In addition to earning a CDL-A, Gee also earned the Double/Triple Trailer endorsement, and a Tanker endorsement.
“This program is funded entirely through inmate welfare dollars and gives incarcerated individuals the tools to succeed when they return to our communities. Second chances matter. Every certificate, every license, and every step forward is a chance to choose a new path. Our motto continues to drive us. Recovery, not recidivism,” said WCSO.
