FMCSA kicks another ELD off list of approved devices, with 60 day deadline to replace

On Friday, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) removed another electronic logging device (ELD) from the agency’s list of approved devices, making it the fourth ELD to be revoked so far this month.

On September 19, 2025, FMCSA removed the following ELD from the agency’s list of approved devices due to failure to meet minimum standards:

Carriers using this device are advised to take the following actions:

  1. Discontinue using the revoked ELD and revert to paper logs or logging software to record required hours of service data.
  2. Replace the revoked ELD with a compliant ELD from the Registered Devices list before November 18, 2025.

FMCSA grants carriers a 60 day window to replace the revoked ELD. During that time, law enforcement is encouraged not to cite the driver for “No record of duty status” or “Failing to use a registered ELD.” Officers should ask to see the driver’s paper logs, logging software to confirm hours-of-service information.

After November 18, a driver using the revoked device will be cited for “No record of duty status” and placed out-of-service.

On September 4, 2025, FMCSA placed the three ELDs below on the list of Revoked Devices for failure to meet minimum standards:

Carriers have until November 3, 2025, to replace these three ELDs with devices that are approved by FMCSA.
