The Governor of New York has issued an executive order suspending Hours of Service rules for truck drivers delivering road salt ahead of very low temperatures on Monday night.
The Executive Order was issued on Sunday, February 16th ahead of the predicted storm, which is expected to last through Monday night, February 17th.
The order waives Hours of Service requirements for truck drivers, allowing for emergency salt deliveries to local and state agencies.
“My Administration is in close contact with our local government partners as we coordinate our efforts, and I issued an executive order to facilitate emergency road salt deliveries ensuring they have the tools and resources needed to keep our roads safe for drivers,” Governor Kathy Hochul stated in a Press Release.
Restrictions are also in place on the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge due to the severe weather threat.
