I-70 in Illinois reopens after 40 vehicle pileup

Officials in Illinois were able to reopen I-70 following a pileup crash involving dozens of vehicles.

The pileup occurred around 1:30 p.m. on January 5 on I-70 east of Greenup, Illinois.

WGNTV reports that at least 40 vehicles collided in the eastbound lanes of I-70 at mile marker 124, forcing the closure of the interstate for hours.

All lanes reopened shortly after 3 a.m. on January 6.

There is no word on whether anyone was injured.
