Interstate 95 was shut down in Florida on Tuesday for a road rage incident involving a truck driver and a driver in a box truck.
The incident occurred on September 23rd in Yulee, Florida along Interstate 95 northbound just before 5 p.m.
According to News4Jax, the road rage incident started between the two drivers near State Road 200, prompting the semi truck driver to pull up alongside the box truck and start firing shots. The box truck driver then swerved away from the shots and drove onto the shoulder, where he stopped and called for help. The semi truck driver then continued north on I-95.
Investigation of the incident shut down I-95 north for about two hours. Witnesses were able to describe the semi truck to investigating police, and officers used that information to determine the trucking company that owned the rig. That company was able to help officers determine the general area of the semi truck, and police were able to track the rig to Interstate 95 in Georgia.
The truck driver was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The incident is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Florida Highway Patrol investigators at 904-301-3700.
