U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested a man who was a passenger in the cab of the semi truck involved in this month’s triple fatality Florida Turnpike crash.
On August 21, 2025, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced the ICE arrest of Harneet Singh, 25, who the agency described as “an illegal alien from India.”
Authorities identified Harneet Singh as the brother of Harjinder Singh, a truck driver facing vehicular homicide charges for an August 12, 2025, crash in St. Lucie County, Florida.

Officials accuse Harjinder Singh of making an illegal U-turn through an “Official Use Only” access point and causing a “brutal wreck” by blocking lanes of the Florida Turnpike with his truck, resulting in a crash that killed three people.
DHS confirmed that Harneet Singh was in the cab of the truck when the crash occurred.
The alleged semi-truck driver who killed three people while making a U-turn at an “Official Use Only” turn on the Florida Turnpike is an ILLEGAL MIGRANT who was granted a commercial driver’s license by the State of California.

DHS said that Harneet Singh was “encountered” by U.S. Border Patrol agents on May 15, 2023, but was released.
Harneet Singh has been in ICE custody since his arrest on August 18, 2025, and DHS says that he “will remain in custody pending removal proceedings.”
On August 16, 2025, ICE also lodged an arrest detainer for Harjinder Singh, “to ensure he remains in custody after his state prosecution, preventing him from slipping back onto America’s streets.”
“This detainer ensures he will be transferred to ICE custody the moment his criminal case concludes,” DHS said.
