Iconic Montana truck stop restaurant closed for the winter to “regroup” after staffing and health issues

A well-known truck stop restaurant is closing for the winter in order to “regroup” after staffing and health issues.

Eddie’s Corner, the gas station, truck stop, and restaurant between Great Falls and Lewistown, Montana will close for the winter, but is not closing for good as some rumors have said. The seasonal closure is prompted by staffing issues, the usual winter slowdown of customers, and health issues amongst the staff.

The store is not closing,” said manager Vicki Abel. “Due to not having enough help, wintertime, it’s slowing down, there’s health issues involved, we are closed for the winter.”

“I know some will be disappointed. We have locals who come through here every week to get a bite to eat,” Vicki explained. “You have the ones that are disappointed because, especially as a truck drivers, they don’t find very many places that they can stop and get a meal, a real meal, a homemade meal on the road anymore.”

Vicki has been working at the truck stop for over 20 years, and says the restaurant will get back to serving truckers and locals as soon as it can “regroup.” The other truck stop amenities, such as the fuel pumps and convenience store, will remain open throughout the winter.

“I’ve served a lot of people. I’ve been cooking here for that long. And so we want to get it back up and going as soon as we can.”
