The Indiana State Police are targeting aggressive motorists with the help of truck drivers across the state on Wednesday.
The special enforcement operation is taking place on October 29th across the state of Indiana.
The officers will be sitting in the passenger seat of semi trucks as a way to spot traffic violations from a different perspective. Officers who spot reckless or aggressive behavior can then radio ahead to regular patrol units.
“Every semi you see on the road, assume there is a Trooper sitting in the passenger seat, because there just might be,” Trooper John Perrine said in a video posted to Facebook.
The enforcement targeting aggressive motorists will focus on unsafe lane changes, following too closely, and distracted driving.
“Sitting in a semi offers a different perspective for us; our goal is always to reduce crashes,” Perrine said.
