Lawyer tapped to lead FMCSA apparently departs after two weeks in role

A lawyer tapped to lead the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) earlier this month appears to have left her role after just a couple of weeks.

As of March 21, all mentions of the agency’s Acting Administrator Adrienne Camire have been removed from the FMCSA website, including a press release announcing her appointment and her entry on the FMCSA Leadership page.

No official announcement has been made on Camire’s status by either the FMCSA or the U.S. Department of Transportation.

The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) announced Camire’s appointment to the role of of Deputy Administrator and Acting Administrator of the FMCSA on March 7, 2025.

On March 18, FMCSA shared a social media post highlighting a visit that Camire made to the Community College of Baltimore County Transportation Training Center in Baltimore, Maryland, “to engage with students in the CDL training program, meet college officials and instructors, and gain some behind-the-wheel experience on the closed training course.”

Camire has a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from Brandeis University and a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School. She previously worked at USDOT as Chief Counsel of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) overseeing all legal services with respect to FHWA’s management of the Federal-aid highway program, according to the FMCSA.
