Louisiana State Police (LSP) arrested a semi truck driver on drug trafficking charges after a CMV inspection uncovered large amounts of drugs and cash.
Around 9:30 a.m. on February 14, an LSP trooper stopped a semi truck on LA 415 north of I-10 in Port Allen.
The trooper conducted a Level II inspection on the 2019 International Harvester tractor trailer.
During the inspection, the trooper “observed a white plastic bag on the floorboard with what appeared to be a large sum of cash.”
With assistance from the West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, a search was conducted on the tractor trailer.
The search uncovered $1,147,638.00 in U.S. currency, approximately 183 pounds of suspected marijuana, and approximately 7 grams of suspected cocaine.
Truck driver Lenny Collado, 29, of Charlotte, North Carolina, was arrested on charges of Possession with the Intent to Distribute Marijuana or Synthetic Cannabinoids and Transactions Involving Proceeds from Drug Offenses.
