A logging truck driver is dead after a second semi truck blew a tire, causing that rig to veer into him in Washington on Wednesday afternoon.
The accident happened on August 3rd in Eastside, Washington on Interstate 90 near exit 32.
According to Fox 13 Seattle, the logging truck driver was heading west on I-90 when a second eastbound semi truck blew a tire and veered into the logging truck. The force of the collision forced the logging truck into the grassy shoulder, where it rolled.
Both truck drivers were transported to a nearby hospital with life threatening injuries. The logging truck driver, now identified as 36-year-old Dwane Sukert, later died of his injuries. The other truck driver has not been identified, but is expected to survive.
Since the accident, Ellis Trucking, owner of the logging truck, says that Sukert was one of their first employees, and was integral to their business. Ellis Trucking has also stated that the wreck did not stem from any mechanical issues with their truck, and that the load was secured and permitted properly.
No further information on the accident has been released.
