A man was arrested in Connecticut on Sunday after driving in reverse on a highway to pick through a load spilled in a tractor trailer wreck.
The incident happened on Sunday, April 6th at about 5:20 a.m. on eastbound Interstate 84 along the Exit 42 off ramp.
According to Daily Voice, Connecticut State Police responded to the scene on reports of a wrong-way motorist through their automated wrong-way detection system. Traffic cam footage showed a pickup truck driving in reverse on the exit 42 off ramp on I-84 before coming to a stop in front of a tractor trailer wreck. A man is then seen stepping out of the pickup and collecting items on the roadway that had been spilled in the wreck. The man then drives off with the items.
“It was observed on camera that the male operator then walked to a crash scene and began picking up items that were scattered on the highway from a rolled over tractor trailer unit,” wrote state police in a report Monday, reported Patch News.
Troopers quickly located the motorist, 51-year-old Marcus King, and placed him under arrest. He has been charged with wrong-way driving on a highway, negligent pedestrian activity on a highway, and theft. He was later released on a $10,000 bond.
Police did not release any information about the tractor trailer crash itself.
