A man has been arrested for allegedly staging a crash with a semi truck on a bridge in Louisiana earlier this summer.
The crash happened just before 10 p.m. on June 24th on the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge along Interstate 10 near the intersection of Louisiana Highway 3177 in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana.
According to WBRZ, 34-year-old motorist William Baker passed a semi truck in the right lane of I-10 west on the bridge and began straddling the center line. With no other vehicles or debris ahead of him, Baker then hit his brakes, causing the tractor trailer to rear end his car.
During the investigation, police suspected that Baker had staged the accident intentionally, and the truck driver provided dash cam footage that validated their suspicions. It is believed that Baker provided a false report to police, which contradicted the video footage provided by the truck driver.
Baker was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center for staging a motor vehicle crash and filing or maintaining false public records.
