Man fatally struck while assisting semi truck driver in snowy gas station lot

Police say that a man lost his life on Monday in a pedestrian vs. semi truck strike in Ellsworth, Kansas.

The incident occurred around 1 p.m. on January 6 at D&S Oil Company, a gas station near I-70 in Ellsworth, according to KAKE.

The outlet reports that 65 year old Rudolph Martinez was assisting a semi truck driver with navigating through the snowy parking lot when the truck backed over him.

Martinez passed away at the scene.

The Wichita Eagle identified Martinez as a fellow truck driver.

The semi truck driver was identified as a 44 year old Missouri resident.

The incident is under investigation.
