New York State Police (NYSP) confirmed that multiple people were killed in a collision on the New York State Thruway on Friday.
The crash occurred around 12:40 p.m. on August 22, 2025, on eastbound I-90 between exits 48A and 49 in the town of Pembroke, Genesee County, New York.
According to NYSP, a tour bus carrying 52 people overturned while traveling on I-90.
Troopers confirmed “several” fatalities and “multiple” injuries.
“Several witnesses observed the bus lose control, enter the median, then cross to the southern shoulder and overturn,” NYSP said.
Police say that the tour bus was chartered from New York City and was returning to the city from Niagara Falls.
I-90 is closed in both directions between exit 48A (Pembroke) and exit 49 (Depew), according to the New York State Thruway Authority.
