Motorist dead after slamming into the back of tractor trailer at I-495 rest stop

One person is dead after crashing into the back of a tractor trailer at a Massachusetts rest area on Monday morning. 

The accident happened early on January 27th at a rest area along Interstate 495 in Haverhill, Massachusetts. 

According to Boston 25 News, troopers were called to the scene on reports of a crash at the rest area. Officers arrived to find a vehicle smashed against the back of a tractor trailer. 

The motorist in the accident was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity has not been released. The truck driver was not hurt. 

The rest area was shut down for cleanup and investigation of the incident, but was reopened around 6:30 a.m. The cause of the crash has not yet been determined.
