The North Coffee Volunteer Fire Department (NCVFD) responded to a major commercial vehicle fire on Tuesday afternoon.
At 2:46 p.m. on Tuesday, February 26, firefighters responded to westbound I-24 at mile marker 103 in Coffee County, Tennessee.
Upon arrival, NCVFD discovered a semi trailer hauling hazmat chemicals with its rear tires and brakes on fire.
The truck was hauling approximately 2300 pounds of Nitrogen gas/resin (Autofroth) in ten separate tanks.
Firefighters were able extinguish the brake and trailer fire “just as it had breached the interior of the trailer.”
No chemicals were released.
NCVFD thanked assisting agencies for “bringing this near disastrous situation safely under control.”
