Nearly 14K Kenworth trucks recalled for risk of instrument panel display failure

Truck maker PACCAR recently recalled thousands of Kenworth trucks for a digital instrument display panel issue.

On September 2, 2025, PACCAR issued a recall for certain 2024-2026 Kenworth T680, T880, and W990 trucks, according to a notice filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The total number of trucks affected by the recall is 13,908.

The Kenworth trucks were recalled for an issue with the instrument display panel, which could fail to show critical information, such as warning lights or vehicle speed.

On the recalled trucks, a 15-inch digital display may enter recovery mode (blue screen) without prior indication, and become unresponsive. “Because of a loss of speedometer and other functionality such as warnings, indicators, and gauges, the driver will not know the truck speed or the warnings that appear on the digital display. A loss of information on the digital display may increase the risk of a crash,” the recall documents state.

As a remedy for the defect, dealers will update the vehicle display software, free of charge.

There is no schedule for owner notification of the recall yet.

Owners may contact Kenworth’s customer service at 1-425-828-5888 and reference recall number 25PACG.
