New Kansas truck stop expects 1,700 commercial trucks a day after 2027 completion

A new Kansas truck stop plans to host as many as 1,700 commercial vehicles a day after the site is completed in 2027.

Company Prairie Band LLC held the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Kansas truck stop and travel plaza on Monday, September 30th. The site is located at US Highway 75 at the 150th Road off-ramp in Jackson County, Kansas.

According to WIBW 13, the 12,000 square foot facility will feature gas and diesel pumps with the customary convenience store and quick-serve restaurants. The truck stop also plans to have ample parking for truck drivers with amenities specifically for truckers. There are also plans for EV charging stations.

Prairie Band LLC says it expects to have 13,000 vehicles, including 1,700 commercial trucks, utilize the Kansas truck stop daily. The facility is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2027.

“This project represents a generational investment in both our infrastructure and our people,” said Jacob Wamego, Prairie Band, LLC CEO. “The new travel plaza will not only serve as a vital stop for truckers and travelers but will also create new jobs and support local businesses.”
