A truck driver is being held on $1 million bond after shooting her manager, claiming he was two years late on payment for a job.
The shooting happened on Thursday, July 24th in Hutchins, Texas near Dallas at the Hutchins Trucking Yard off of Fulgham Road at about 5:30 p.m.
According to Fox 4, police were called to the trucking yard on reports of a gunshot wound. When they arrived, they found 47-year-old Carl Joseph Donaldson deceased of a gunshot. Witnesses notified officers that the suspect, 57-year-old truck driver Patricia Holt, was attempting to flee the scene in a semi truck.
Officers deployed stop sticks to stop Holt, disabling the truck in the middle of Fulgham Road. Holt then barricaded herself inside of her truck cab for almost four hours before eventually surrendering to police without further incident.
Tonya Donaldson, wife of the shooting victim, says that she and her husband manage the trucking company together. Tonya says that Holt was hired as a driver about a month ago – in June – and that her husband was attempting to calm Holt down when she shot him.
When questioned by police, Holt admitted that she had shot and killed Donaldson, stating that “they had been [expletive] with her for too long” and that she “has been waiting for two years to get paid for a job.”
Tonya says that Holt has been paid for the short time she has been working for their company, and that there is no way she has been paid two years late.
“I have no clue what that means or what she is talking about. She has only worked for us a month and she has gotten paid,” she said.
Police are still investigating the incident, including searching for any past dealings between Holt and Donaldson. Holt is currently being held in the Dallas county jail, where she is being held on $1 million bond.
