Nine people were hurt on Thursday after a school bus crashed into an empty tanker truck leaving a truck stop.
The accident happened just before 4 p.m. on Thursday, August 14th outside of the Pilot on Highway 15 in Bishopville, South Carolina.
According to News 19, 33 students and one bus driver were on the bus when it crashed into the tanker truck as it was leaving a truck stop. The collision caused severe damage to the front end of the school bus and left the vehicle partially wedged beneath the truck.
Nine people were transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Police say that the tanker truck had just delivered a load of gas to the truck stop, and was empty at the time of the collision. The accident is still under investigation.
