Illinois State Police (ISP) released results from a recent enforcement operation in Bond, Clinton, Madison, and St. Clair counties that included dozens of commercial vehicle inspections.
On October 6 — 9, 2025, ISP conducted a “violent crime suppression detail” along the I-55, I-64, and I-70 corridors.
During the detail, troopers conducted traffic stops “with an emphasis on traffic safety, reducing fatalities, and the apprehension of individuals utilizing the highway systems in the furtherance of criminal activities.”

ISP highlighted two “notable” incidents that occurred during the detail:
- Troopers conducted a traffic stop for an Illinois Vehicle Code (IVC) violation near Pocahontas. The driver was subsequently taken into custody for Driving Under the Influence.
- Troopers conducted a traffic stop for an IVC violation near New Baden. A probable cause search revealed cannabis, methamphetamine, and a stolen firearm. Two occupants were taken into custody and charges are pending.
The Metropolitan Enforcement Group of Southern Illinois and the South-Central Illinois Drug Task Force provided support for the operation.
