No more ‘wild wild west’ for the trucking industry, says Secretary Duffy

Secretary Sean Duffy promises no more ‘wild wild west’ for the trucking industry amid the recent trucking school purge.

“The trucking industry has operated like the Wild, Wild West for far too long,” Duffy wrote in a Facebook post regarding a recent press conference.

“Which is why I purged NEARLY HALF of trucking schools from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s list of approved schools because they failed to meet our high standards of safety,” the post continues.

“We also placed over 7,000 drivers who failed to meet our English proficiency standards out of service because if you can’t speak English, you need to get off American roads!”

In the video attached to the post, Duffy also calls out Minnesota Governor Tim Walz for issuing 33% of “these licenses unlawfully,” but does not specify any further numbers.
