Officials utilized drones to locate and round up cows that were set free during a cattle hauler crash in Virginia on Tuesday.
The accident happened on September 16th in Danville, Virginia on southbound Route 29 at about 10:30 a.m.
According to ABC 13, the cattle hauler was on its way to Caswell County, North Carolina when it overturned while taking an exit. 34-year-old truck driver Kevin Hurt was seriously injured in the crash and multiple cows were killed. Between 20 and 30 cows broke free from the trailer in the accident and ran away from the crash site.
Hurt was transported to a hospital for his injuries. Officials say he will likely face charges for failure to maintain proper control.
Officials used the help of cowboys and drones to round up the escaped cattle and load them onto another trailer. By 7:48 p.m. that evening, only three cows were still missing. The roadway was reopened at about 8:40 p.m. No further information has been released.
