Ohio troopers share video of bobtail truck and pickup careening off I-71 bridge

The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) shared body cam video of a semi truck driver and a pickup driver losing control at the same location on an icy interstate overpass in Mansfield last month.

From OSHP:

“In this video from November, a trooper is responding to a truck that slid off the road when another truck loses control on the same bridge on I-71 in Mansfield. It shows just how fast weather conditions can change and how dangerous winter weather can be for everyone on the road, including first responders.

Slow down, increase your following distance and give yourself extra time to reach your destination safely. Arriving late to your destination is fine; arriving safely is what matters.“

Troopers shared the video as a reminder that “bridges and overpasses freeze before the rest of the roadway.”
