Oklahoma troopers find nearly 50 pounds of fentanyl in ‘concealed void’ in car on auto hauler

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) reported finding “over 11 million potentially lethal doses” of an illegal drug after pulling over a car hauler.

The traffic stop took place on August 1, 2025, on I-40 in rural Oklahoma, according to OHP.

Troopers pulled over the car hauler for following too closely, but then “observed suspicious indicators.”

After obtaining permission to search the vehicle, OHP uncovered “49.55 pounds of illicit fentanyl hidden in a concealed void inside one of the trailered cars.”

OHP offered few other details about the traffic stop but noted that “this post is intentionally vague to avoid providing details that could aid criminal organizations in their deadly operations.”

“Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid roughly 50 times stronger than heroin. Just 2 milligrams can be deadly, making it the leading cause of overdose deaths in the U.S. This seizure represents over 11 million potentially lethal doses, enough to deliver nearly three lethal doses to every man, woman, and child in Oklahoma,” said OHP.
