A truck driver has died after a serious wreck forced emergency crews to perform a leg amputation at the crash site in an attempt to save him.
The crash happened on Monday, July 28th near Canyon, Texas just before 9:15 a.m.
According to ABC 33, the concrete truck was heading west on US 60 at Hope Road when it veered off the road and overturned. The crash pinned the concrete truck driver inside the truck.
Due to the severity of the driver’s entrapment, emergency crews were forced to perform a leg amputation at the crash site. A surgeon was flown in from Amarillo to perform the surgery.
After the emergency procedure, 38-year-old Ruben Solis and his leg were both flown to a hospital. Each was transported in a different helicopter.
Solis eventually succumbed to his injuries and died as a result of the crash. No further information has been released.
