Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) recently nabbed a truck driver for a distracted driving offense in Ottawa.
Shortly before 10 p.m. on December 16, 2025, an Ottawa OPP officer stopped a commercial truck driver on Highway 417 near Carling Avenue for distracted driving.
According to OPP East Region, the officer “observed the driver watching videos while driving.”
Following the traffic stop, police say that the driver of the truck was issued a $615 fine (CAD), which also carries three demerit points and a three day driving suspension upon conviction.
“The OPP is reminding drivers that distracted driving remains the number one cause of serious and fatal collisions in Ontario over impaired driving. And upon conviction, your insurance costs will increase significantly or the company might cancel your policy altogether,” said police.
