Pickup driver who struck trucker on I-75 shoulder and fled was police officer of 14 years

The pickup driver who struck a trucker standing on the side of Interstate 75 and left the scene was a police officer of 14 years, records show.

36-year-old Terrell Lowdermilk was involved in a crash with another semi truck on August 13th. While standing outside of his rig with another driver, Lowdermilk was struck by a man in a pickup truck, who fled the scene. On Friday, August 15th, 48-year-old Christopher Bradshaw turned himself in to the Cobb County, Georgia jail for the incident.

According to WSBTV2, Bradshaw was a police lieutenant with the Milton Police Department for 14 years prior to the accident. He was fired on Monday, August 18th – a few days after turning himself in. He has been charged with homicide by vehicle and felony hit and run.

The Milton Police Department made the following statement about the incident and subsequent arrest:

“The Milton Police Department has been informed that one of its lieutenants, Christopher Bradshaw, a 14-year veteran of the department, has been arrested by the Marietta Police Department in connection with a hit-and-run crash that tragically claimed the life of a motorist in Marietta, Georgia. The incident occurred while Bradshaw was off duty.

Upon our initial notification of the investigation, Bradshaw was immediately placed on administrative leave and has since been terminated from employment with the City of Milton.

Our deepest condolences go out to the family and loved ones of the victim during this difficult time. While we cannot provide further comment due to the ongoing investigation being led by the Marietta Police Department, we remain committed to transparency, accountability, and maintaining the trust of our community.”
