Piles of metal left along NJ roadway after flatbed veers off road

Piles of metal were left scattered along a New Jersey roadway after a flatbed semi truck veered off the road and down an embankment. 

The accident happened at 4:02 a.m. on Route 1/9 in Newark, New Jersey on August 4th. 

According to North Jersey News, the tractor trailer was traveling north on the New Jersey Turnpike at mile marker 107.3 when the truck driver lost control of the rig. The semi truck then veered off of the right side of the road and traveled down an embankment. The crash left piles of metal spilled along Route 1/9 below the Turnpike. 

The truck driver sustained minor injuries in the accident and was taken to a nearby hospital. No other injuries were reported. The crash is still under investigation. 

The right lane of the highway was reopened by 8:45 a.m., but the right shoulder remained closed until 11:15 a.m. No further information has been released.
