An iconic restaurant in a truck stop in northern Colorado has closed for good after several decades of serving truckers and other travelers.
On Sunday, January 12, Johnson’s Corner Restaurant and Bakery, located off I-25 in Johnstown, Colorado, shut down.
The Petro Johnson’s Corner truck stop which housed Johnson’s Corner remains open under ownership by TravelCenters of America (TA).
The area that housed the Johnson’s Corner restaurant will reopen as part of the Black Bear Diner chain following a remodel of the space.
9News points out that the restaurant closure comes less than a year after a Buc-ee’s travel center opened on I-25, about three miles south of the Petro Johnson’s Corner truck stop.
The restaurant was best known for its cinnamon rolls, which will reportedly still be available inside the truck stop.
Johnson’s Corner opened in 1952. The truck stop housing the restaurant was purchased by TA in 2014.
