Pregnant Uber driver crashes into parked semi truck, killing passenger

One person has died after an accident involving a sedan and a stopped semi truck in Philadelphia on Tuesday night. 

The accident happened at around 10:45 p.m. on December 31st at Nedro and Ogontz avenues in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. 

According to CBS, the 32-year-old pregnant Uber driver crashed the sedan into a parked semi truck, crushing the front passenger side of the car underneath the trailer.

 Both the Uber driver and passenger were taken to a hospital following the accident. The passenger was pronounced dead at 11:10 p.m. The Uber driver has been listed in stable condition. The truck driver was not hurt. 

“We’re incredibly saddened by this horrible crash and are keeping those involved in our thoughts. We’re continuing to look into this and are standing by to assist in the investigation,” an Uber spokesperson wrote in a statement.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
