R+L given $1.5M benefits package in exchange for $15M expansion in Abilene

R+L Carriers has partnered with the city of Abilene to build a $15 million trucking terminal as part of an economic improvement project for the area.

R+L Carriers has agreed to build a $15 million, 58,000 square foot trucking terminal in the Development Corporation of Abilene Business Park in Texas.

The family owned trucking company has been operating in the city for over 20 years, and has been offered a $1.465 million incentive package in exchange for their investment into the community. The incentive package is part of Project Bay, which is expected to make $173 million in direct and indirect economic impacts for the area, reported KTXS 12.

“This expansion is an investment… — and a resounding message to other businesses that Abilene is the premier destination to grow, scale, and serve the entire country from a central location,” said Misty Mayo, President and Chief Executive Officer of the DCOA. “R+L Carriers has been part of the Abilene business community for over 20 years, and we are proud to support their continued investment and expansion in the Abilene community.

“The expansion of R+L Carriers brings valuable jobs to our community and creates long-term economic benefits for Abilene families,” said Mayor Weldon Hurt.
